Morning Meditation – Light For Your Feet
Morning Meditation with George Hutchings
Light for Your Feet
Psalm 119:105 “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” (NKJV)
Light! This time of the year we know the days are getting shorter and darkness keeps the morning sun away longer. We are accustomed to having light and we do not like living so much in the darkness. We use lights constantly to light our way in the dark. We have headlights on our vehicles to see the road, lights in our homes to get to other rooms without stumbling over furniture, lights on our streets to help us walk, and lights lighting up our towns and cities all through the night. It is so hard to get work done outside because of the lack of light.
In Psalms the Lord tells us His Word is a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path. That is both a spiritual path and a physical path. God’s Word helps keep our focus on the Lord and what is right. The Lord’s Word shows us the way through a dark and dreary world. A lantern does not cast its light very far and our natural desire is to always see the entire picture or the entire field ahead of us. We want to see a long way ahead, but the Lord tells us He is enough for that very moment, for the next step, and for the path before us.
We are to take one step at a time with the Lord’s leading so we are sure of our footing. When we stop reading His word our path will become unclear. Satan will litter the path before you to make you stumble and fall and hurt yourself. We struggle to find the way. We need the lamp of the Lord’s Word every day to brighten the path before us. It reveals Satan’s traps and lights our spiritual journey.
Lord, help me and the students at Juanita School for Girls to remember Your Word is there to direct our next steps. Help us take the time every day to read Your Word so the path before us is clear. Thank you for showing me the way as I read Your Word. Thank You Lord!
In Jesus’ name, amen!
