Our Charity Work History in Kenya

Our work in Kenya started in 1997 when George delivered $100,000 worth of medical supplies to the then President Daniel Arap Moi. On that trip, he saw women walking 6-8 miles to bathe in muddy water beside the cows and then fill their drinking buckets from the same water to carry home.

He then saw a sight that is etched on his mind forever. A woman carried a red plastic pale, following a cow to catch the urine so she would have something to drink. George knew he had to do something, but what?

Upon returning to America, George mentioned this to Dr. Franco Sicuro and Franco mentioned Living Waters International. George flew to Houston for a week of water drilling training and returned with the knowledge of water drilling but a thought of how to raise support. There was a good used shoe market. George would collect used shoes, sell them on the market in Haiti and use proceeds to drill fresh water wells in Kenya. After collecting 4 million pounds of used shoes and drilling 300 wells in Kenya, George became known as, “The Shoeman.”

In like manner, George discovered the need for education and the school kids walked by without a desk, book, or school to attend and looked him in the eye. Those eyes said, “Mister are you going to help use or walk on by?”

Three years ago, we had no land, water, electricity or buildings. Today, we have a large two-story building standing in the middle of a remote area with 87 students and 60 more coming in January.

We have done the hard work but now need partners like you to pay fees for students. The students come from mud houses, sleeping on the dirt floor, no running water or electricity and Juanita School for Girls is their only hope to move from poverty to possible prosperity.

Today when a student enrolls at Juanita School for Girls, they sleep on a mattress for the first time, have their first shower. They love the shower so much the teachers have to say, “Times UP.” And they enjoy 3 meals a day.

So The Heron Fund has become the spokesman for Juanita School for Girls, Where we Rescue Children and Change Lives! We are a new charity, founded in 2015, but have 52 years of charity experience.

Join us today by the sponsorship of a student for $100.00 a month that pays for everything from bed to board. Or donate $20.00 and feed a student for a week. Join with us in this life changing experience.

Without Juanita School for Girls, these 87 young women turn to alcohol, drugs, the sex trade, or suicide. We truly rescue children and change lives.

One of the greatest compliments the students have given us is, “Teachers love us as their own children, and we feel the love of God in this place.”

Wishing you blessings and peace in this war-torn world.
