You can also be part of the team as The Heron Fund travels for the annual Thanksgiving event for February 22, 2025.
What we will do:
Day of Thanksgiving will be February 22, 2025. It is out traditional day of celebration. As a Christian school, it is only proper that we have a day of Jubilee. From Noon till 4:00 PM, there will be singing, dancing, speeches, preaching, and of course the famous traditional Goat Roast! In February 2024, over 200 of the village people showed and it was a great time.
People are needed who can:
Teach scripture to the students at Juanita School.
People with a passion, we can use you. If you like softball or soccer, come on! The students get very little recreation. Can you play chess or checkers?
Nurse of Doctor to teach first aid. Come will small stuff such as a stethoscope or thermometer.
We will join Jesus Generation Ministries (A local church and school for church leaders and pastors) to prepare church leaders and pastors. A leadership conference is scheduled for the day with a revival at night. In 2021, 150 certificates of attendance were handed out and 7 professions of faith happened. We need a host of preachers and teachers; this is a heavy teaching load.
Upon completion of our work, we will drive through Nairobi National Park where you will see the Lions and other animals. In 2019, we got see a Lion Kill. Then onto the Giraffe Park, a must see. The Elephant nursery and of course the Maasai Market to haggle over the price of souvenirs. Some people love this and others hate it, but it is a Kenya Experience and should not be missed.
By all means, eat the Pineapple! Kenya grows the best and the hotter the summer is, the sweeter the pineapple becomes.
Then onward home. The price is still to be determined, due to the fluctuation of air fuel prices. Be prepared for about $3,000 for the trip of a lifetime. You will return home changed for the good, forever.
